Steak Salad for Dinner

I’ve been in a bit of a cooking funk. The cold weather lasted longer than usual and my body craved cold salads of spring but my spirit doesn’t like cold food in the cold. The earthquake didn’t help either.

I finally got to go to the farmers market again this morning. The last two Saturdays my son’s schedule hasn’t allowed me to go. All the vegetables in the salad are local.

I threw this salad together quickly tonight. It’s finally warm so it’s time for meal salads.

On the plate:
Pan fried steak, cut into strips
Half a tomato, sliced
A large plate full of red leaf lettuce
One kabu (turnip), sliced
A few black olives, cut in half
Half a yellow carrot, sliced

Dressing: Basil and Cheese by Kewpie – not bad for an inexpensive supermarket bottle

  1. Hi Kirsten, I have recently discovered your interesting blog and keep on “leafing” through it and leafing… I’ll come back for inspirations and to look at all those wonderful things I can’t (most of the time) buy in Europe 🙁

    1. Thanks for stopping by. I understand your pain in not being able to buy things you want to try from blogs.
